So what is a CSA? CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. Essentially, a group of people in a given community (in this case, Sunnyside and Woodside) come together to partner with a local farmer (Golden Earthworm Organic Farm) who provides fresh produce every week during the harvest season. In practical terms: the community members pay for a ‘share’ of the farmer’s produce during the season. The payment is collected in the spring, and the farmer delivers the vegetables straight from the farm to a central pick-up point every week. The community’s members come to pick-up point to collect their ‘share’ of the produce – typically 6-10 different kinds of seasonal vegetables every week.
